The Pros And Cons Of Buying A Certified Pre-Owned Ford For Sale

Posted on

If you are looking at pre-owned fords for sale, one of the biggest decisions you will have to make is whether to buy a certified pre-owned Ford for sale or a regular used Ford. Learning the pros and cons can help you decide which option makes the most sense for you. Here are a couple of the most common pros and cons of buying a certified pre-owned Ford:

The Cons of Buying a Certified Pre-Owned Ford For Sale

  • Limits Your Buying Pool

One of the biggest downsides of buying a certified pre-owned Ford is that it limits your buying pool. Only Ford dealerships can certify used Ford cars, and the cars that can be certified have strict age, mileage and wear requirements. If you are looking for a specific car, you limit your ability to buy from a private seller or even a non-Ford dealership if you only want a certified pre-owned Ford. This can make it harder to find what you want.

  • The Price

The other disadvantage to buying a certified pre-owned Ford for sale is the price. As a general rule of thumb, a certified pre-owned Ford will cost more than the same exact car that is not used but not certified. You are paying more to have the car inspected and to have repairs made to factory standards. If you are on a strict budget, this may not be the best option for you.

The Pros of Buying a Certified Pre-Owned Ford For Sale

  • Peace of Mind

The biggest advantage to buying a certified pre-owned Ford, and the reason people pay more for them, is that you are getting a used car that has been inspected and had its history checked. This gives you peace of mind that there are no major issues with the car or that repairs won't be needed the second you drive the car off of the lot.

  • A Longer Warranty

The other benefit to buying a certified pre-owned Ford is the warranty. Ford offers a 12 month or 12,000 comprehensive limited warranty and a seven year or 100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty on their certified pre-owned vehicles. In most states, a car that is sold used from a dealership is only required to give you a 30 to 60-day warranty, while private sellers are not required to provide you with any warranty. Having this long warranty helps to ensure you will not have to pay out of pocket if there is something significantly wrong with the car.

There are pros and cons to buying a certified pre-owned Ford versus a used Ford from either a used car dealer or a private seller. Taking the time to learn about these pros and cons will help educate you on it so you can make an informed decision as to which is the better option for you.
